1. INTRODUCTION

All measures that are being taken are for the safety of students, families, the community and staff and guided by Federal/State/Local guidelines.

We expect that the situation will be updated regularly and guidelines will be updated in accordance with government regulations.

We encourage you to reference the full Restart Plan on Jefferson County Public Schools website for full details.

The COVID-19 is a virus that is transmitted by the respiratory route, and it is also possible to spread it by touching an infected surface or object. Therefore, the best protection measures are the isolation of infected people and carriers of the virus, use of PPE, social distancing and personal hygiene.

Currently, a scenario of some uncertainty persists and is always pending what the health authorities are advising to the public. For this reason, and with the information available at this time, it is considered necessary to adopt a series of transitional measures that protect the educational community in the development of classroom teaching activity.

2. PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide the plan for the organization and reinforcement of the hygienic measures taken at Jefferson Jr.Sr. due to COVID-19 during the after-school club program to avoid the transmission of the virus among the members during  in person learning.

This general plan has the mission to maintain safe and healthy conditions for the staff and for the students who will be attending the after-school program by presenting a series of organizational, hygienic, and technical measures.

3. BASIC REFERENCES

The after-school club's program will follow the Basic References to help keep students, teachers, and staff safe in the educational center, and help stop the spread of this disease.

The recommendations for healthy educational centers are:

Students, teachers, and other staff with apparent symptoms compatible with a COVID-19 should not go to the educational center. It is recommended in case of the presence of possible symptoms; the temperature is taken before attending the center.

Social distancing will be implemented with 6 feet distancing from any person (a term applied to specific measures adopted to stop the spread of a highly contagious disease, limiting the concentration of large groups of people).

All students, teachers, and other staff of the educational center must always wear masks in the facilities of the educational center when it is not impossible to maintain a safe social distance.  Masks in fact should be worn at all times unless a specific health condition exempts the individual from wearing a mask, in these circumstances special additional measures will be enforced.

More frequent hand washing should be required and encouraging students to wash their hands whenever objects and surfaces are touched, regular hand washing and sanitizing will be scheduled for all participants throughout the program.

Cleaning and disinfection measures will be intensified throughout the school grounds (spaces, utensils, and materials).

  • ‚óŹParents will be expected to pick up their child outside of the school, students will be supervised until parent pick up.

4. PREVENTIVE MEASURES

In addition to the Basic References proposed by the health authorities, another series of steps will be taken, observing the guidelines at Jefferson JrSr and in coordination with 21st Century Learning Grant Director and Coordinator of the after-school clubs.

5. EQUIPMENT AND HYGIENE

All students, teachers, and other staff must wear masks throughout the space of the educational center during club time.

The common areas or transit areas will be used as little as is necessary to move from one space to another, respecting and following the signs given by the school.

Avoid touching commonly used door opening mechanisms (keep doors open if it does not affect security).

Disinfectant gel will be provided to all and masks if students or teachers need it, upon arrival.

An adult will pass by the students picking up their trash from the snack before starting the class.

Students will place their belongings next to them in their marked area.

At the end of each class, all the materials, surfaces, and spaces will be disinfected.

6. ORGANIZATIONAL MEASURES

• Rooms and Classrooms

According to the After-School Clubs ’program, for the 1st and 2nd sessions we will have limited use of the building in order to implement safety guidelines:

-          Music Room (Area)

-          Cafeteria

-      Outdoors

-          Gym (Area)

-      Classrooms that allow social distancing

The area of each Room will be measured and marked according to the 6 feet of social distancing.

• Use of Bathrooms

The bathrooms and toilets will be used on an individual basis, avoiding sharing common sink areas, and maintaining interpersonal distance during waiting.

7. ACCESS AND FLOW OF TEACHER AND STUDENTS

The development of the after-school club activities will have an intensive schedule where immediately after dismissal, the student will be sent directly to the classroom where the club will be held.

Each club will have up to 10 students and a minimum of 5-8 students; each student will keep a distance of 6 '.

Students must remain in their designated area and are not allowed to go anywhere in the building without permission, i.e. bathroom or early dismissal.

Students will be directed to their work area; students must always remain in their designated area.

At the end of clubs, an orderly exit from the school will be maintained and, if necessary, staggered, to avoid crowds following the areas marked.

The teacher will be checking out the roster and calling students one by one for dismissal.

Students will stay in their designated area until the teacher calls them to be dismissed.

Parents will be outside close to the exit door, lined up keeping the distance, and one by one will be picking up their students, dismissed by the teacher.

8. DEVELOPMENT OF ACTIVITIES

• Teachers and the students will maintain the 6 feet of social distancing will include an area for their mobilization according to the activity, always using masks.

• The activities should be done in a staggered way avoiding groupings, and team games or contact games should be avoided.

• Avoiding sharing pens and other elements, or ensuring in case they need to be shared, thorough cleaning and disinfection with the disposable article before each use.

 • No events or meetings will be held that do not comply with the distance and hygiene measures.

9. IN CASE OF ILLNESS

The protocols that Jefferson County Public Schools & Jefferson Jr Sr applies and will be followed.

10. MONITORING

Authorization from the Jefferson Jr.Sr. Clinic Aid and Principal are necessary for the resumption of club attendance.

11. CONCLUSION

The After-School Clubs at Jefferson Jr.Sr. will follow and support in general the return plan In-Person Learning activity that Jefferson Jr Sr School establishes and provides in coordination with 21st Century Grant.

The co-responsibility Requires all the members of the educational community to minimize the risks of contagion and regain regular activity in schools after the health emergency that we are experiencing, and which will undoubtedly generate consequences that will require everyone's effort and commitment.
